White Flag Lap

In racing the white flag signifies the last lap of the race. The next event on the schedule was New Jersey Motorsports Park and is the second to last race of the year. The final event would follow with only a two day break, which we will be using to drive to Birmingham, AL. Before we head of to Jersey we first went north and spent a couple of days near Buffalo.

We took a drive Niagara Falls and spent a day being a tourist. I’ve never been there. It was quite impressive, yet very commercialized. Thankfully the park service a has preserved a bit of the area so you can get away from the souvenir vendors and casinos.img_1626

I spent a day at the rv park wiring the lights on the car and getting it ready to tow.

Once the car was ready we hooked up and headed to Philly. We found a great rv park north of the city but with in easy commute to the sights around the town.

First trip was a drive out to Strasburg to visit the Pennsylvania Railroad Museum.

Next was a trip around Valley Forge.

Liz arrived a day early so that we could take her up to New York City.  After leaving the RV at a truckstop/rest area on the New Jersey Turnpike, we drove to Staten Island, rode the Ferry to lower Manhattan, then walked and rode the subway around.

The second to last MotoAmerica event weekend was in Millville NJ, at New Jersey Motosports Park. A new Superbike Championship was clinched and we kept an eye on hurricane Irma as it tried to disrupt travel plans.

After the weekend, we left New Jersey and headed south. We had two day to get to Barber Motorsports Park in Birmingham, Al. We made a two day trip of it with a break to do laundry in Virginia. The second day was spent driving through light rain left over from Irma.

The final race weekend went well, but left us pretty tired. Not only did we have the event, but on Monday we also had the Awards banquet. The Banquet was held in the Barber Vintage Motorcycle Museum. This is an awesome venue. If you are even remotely interested in motorcycles, Barber is the best. It also happens to be the largest in the world. They were great and opened to doors to MotoAmerica and we had full reign of the building to wander and look at the exhibits.
