Summer in Daytona

While the rest of the northern hemisphere has officially moved to fall, Florida is not ready for it. The temps all week have been in the high 80’s to low 90’s. So we’ve been making the best of it. One of the items we have wanted to add to our list of toys has been standup paddle-boards or SUPs. We stopped at a few shops ands finally found a place that had a good price on some nicer quality inflatable ones. So we got all the gear needed to go with it and headed out to learn how to do this.

Danelle picked it up quick and started to try new moves out, but ended up taking a dunk for all her efforts.

We also climbed up the Ponce inlet lighthouse, all 203 steps. The views from the top are great.

We also spent some time just sitting on the beach. The sand on the beaches is really fine and like walking on powder.

We also were able to spend time with friends who live in the area. Thanks to Mark, Aubrey, Scottie, Dan and Racheal for showing us around.

Awesome burgers at a great place Scott found

We were loaned a party barge (pontoon boat) to use today and cruised out to disappearing island. Saw dolphins, turtles and even a manatee as we toured around the mangroves. Thanks again Mark.

Tomorrow we pack up and start heading north. It’s been a good week.
