When we were sampling the beers at a brewery in Cheboygan, the bartender mentioned that if we were headed to the UP (Upper Peninsula) we really should go to Munising and see the Pictured Rocks National Shoreline. We really hadn’t thought about going up to Lake Superior, but we looked at the map and a few reviews, and off we went. It was well worth it. When we were checking into the KOA, there was a local teen working the desk along with the manager. He was knowledgeable on the area and told us we should do a hike along the shoreline. It was only 8 or so miles and well worth it. Since we hadn’t been to the area we drove to the first and easiest view point Miner’s Castle to see whether a hike was worth it. This first view was enough to convince us to go for a hike the next day. The hike ended up being over ten miles and we chronicled it with a video Here. The day after our hike, we drove south to Menominee Mi. We only spent the night there and then headed further south to Two Rivers Wisconsin. We planned ahead for this Memorial day and unlike last year, we had a place to stay for the busy weekend.
The two Rivers/Manitowoc area has a few bike paths along the shore that we took advantage of. We also went into Green Bay to visit a railroad museum. They have one of the Union Pacific’s Big Boys on display along with train that General Eisenhower traveled in during WWII. There was also a mail car that obviously ran the Denver Line. We found the sorting boxes set for Denver and it’s suburbs.
Now its back to work. This next weekend will be round 4 at Road America for the MotoAmerica series.
